Hey everyone, it’s Caitlyn and welcome back!
Oh wow, it has been a very long time, I can’t believe we haven’t spoken since last year and I just thought I would update you all on the end of last year and why I haven’t posted anything since we are into the second month of 2018. If I was you I would get comfy, grab a blanket with a hot drink in hand (maybe not at the same time, that maybe a bit dangerous) and let’s catch up.
Let’s go back to the end of 2017, I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and new year, I can assure you I did! I always love that time of year, being able to just completely relax with family and friends. I think for me my winter break was 100% needed because before Christmas I was so stressed out with coursework, uni applications, Christmas shopping for many, many people and let me tell you the list kept going on and on. So yes 2 weeks off was calling my name. I decided to take advantage of this and completely wind down and just have me time, which was honestly the best decision I made. You may have noticed I didn’t post nothing for the rest of December and that was because I had some personal issues in my life (#Heartbreak is a mess) which meant my mood was not the best, I was quite down at the time and emotional a lot which meant I couldn’t even bring my self to even write my blog which normally cheers me up. A big shout to my friends and family who were there! Besides the point, I decided to walk into the new year and the two weeks off with my head high and focusing on myself and my work and just enjoying life.
Then came 2018! Happy new year all around! I was ready for this year because there are so many exciting things happening which I can’t wait to tell you all about. During this point, I was in my second week of my winter break and I was honestly so happy, the happiest I had actually been in a very long time. I was out every day during the break whether if that was catching up with friends I hadn’t seen in ages, venturing out into new places, working on exciting projects including starting a youtube channel like woah, meeting new people and just generally enjoying life without worrying about anything. I was generally enjoying life and having fun and detoxing which was something I definitely needed to do.
Winter break was then over which meant mock week was fast approaching which was stressful enough of the thought of it. Long story short I think it went okay I only sat 3 papers with one being 3 hours long. Yes, you could imagine me sitting there still for three hours straight with a somewhat dead hand and silent…it was a long time. I get my results next Thursday which is so scary, prey I have done well but of course, I will all let you know how I got on.
Then was the choice of applying to Uni and going to interviews. If you weren’t aware because I don’t think I have ever addressed it on here but I am going to University this year (I know how scary) to study fashion communication. If you are reading this and thinking Caitlyn, what is fashion communication? It is a course which involves so many different aspects of the fashion industry such as photography, journalism, PR, event planning, styling, merchandising and so much more. I have always had a passion for fashion as you can tell by having this blog and my interest has grown stronger over the years which meant I wanted to venture into higher education. I applied to 4 universities and I received two conditional offers along with an unconditional offer and being unsuccessful at one university. My first choice being Northumbria University I had to actually attend an interview for which was super scary but I am going to do a separate post on my experience so make sure to watch out for that coming soon. I then found out on Thursday I got in which actually made me cry because I was so happy, it was a crazy day. I just can’t believe I am going to university in September but it is a new chapter I can’t wait to begin.
January has definitely been a month of reflection and working on some very exciting projects which I can’t wait to share with you all soon, it’s going to be a very exciting time! It has been a month of excitement, hard work and positivity.
I thought I would do a reflection of each month this year which I am going to document in my little mindfulness journal to keep you all up to date and just so I can look back and remember it all. I hope you all had an amazing January and here is to 2018, it’s going to be a good one – trust me.
