Hello December: let the Christmas countdown begin

It is officially December 1, 2021 and the Christmas countdown is officially in full swing and I could not be more excited about it. This year has went by so quick and before you know it we will be stepping into 2022. Since December has begun and we are in the last month of the year, I thought it was time I spread some holiday inspiration and share my favourite parts that I love about December.

Hot chocolate
It is officially hot chocolate season and, I couldn’t be happier. There is nothing better than snuggling up on the sofa with the fire burning and having a big cup of hot chocolate to help get you through the dark winter nights. It needs to be thick and indulgent, creamy and very chocolatey topped with marshmallows and whipped cream. It’s the perfect winter treat!

Christmas movies
Across the holiday season, you can bet I will be spending a lot of time watching plenty of Christmas movies wrapped up in a big blanket; there is nothing better. Some of my favourites are Home Alone, The Holiday, Mistletoe over Manhattan and The Grinch.

Decorating the tree
Me and my family always decide to put our tree up during the first weekend of December which has been a tradition we have followed for as long as I can remember. There is nothing better than hanging all the baubles on your tree and watching it come to life with all the lights and decorations. This is a moment that feels magical every year. Plus, you can even have some Christmas much playing in the background while you decorate. If that doesn’t throw you into the holiday spirit, I am not sure what will.

Christmas markets
A festive market is always on the December agenda and, it is a wonderful day out with friends, family or even for a romantic date night. Packed with plenty of stalls to stroll around there – is always something to look at or taste – the churro stand is always my favourite. You can discover some new businesses which are local to you and, you might even find some great gift ideas for your loved ones.

Festive baking
Baking has always been one of my favourite activities to do especially during a cold and miserable day outside. There is nothing better than baking some Christmas tree-shaped brownies or a warm batch of gingerbread cookies to pass the day. They make the perfect treat for any cold evening and, you could even bake them for a loved one for Christmas. Check out Jane Patisserie for some yummy festive treats.

Gift giving
Buying presents for Christmas for my friends and family has always been one of the most exciting times. When it comes to wrapping their presents, it becomes an experience for me where I become very creative with my decoration and personalise it to what they like. Then seeing their reaction to a beautifully wrapped gift with what they asked for inside just always makes me feel so excited.
